Bird of the month is without a doubt the Red Wattled Lapwing. A very rare bird that was last seen in Israel on 2001.
The red wattled lapwing is actually a relative of the most known israeli bird- the Spur-winged lapwing. Her structure, and general coortion as Spur winged Lapwing, but somewhat larger.
Her English name comes from her exposed skin on her face. As do others Lapwings, she generally walk around in fields and near wetlands trying to find food.
It breeds across southern Asia and accidental can be seen outside her breeding area in the Middle East.
An excellent bird to see and record.
