rJust returned from a 3 day birding tour to southern Israel. Met a group from singapore, which came to do some birding for the second time with me, in Eilat and from there we started birding in Eilat area heading in time to the Negev area. We watched quite a lot of birds, nothing rare though. Some of the birds worth mentioning are:Sinai rose finch, Imperial eagle, crouned sandgrouse and many wheatear sp. Attached below is a MP4 video file courtesy of Wei Lins (thanks) from the drinking spot at Ezuz.
Had a wonderfull 6 days with an American Birder and his wife. Went birding mainly in southern Israel. The spring Migration hasnt started yet, though there are still nice birds in the field. Had some good views of raptors among this week, such as that long eard owl pic and a lovely Imperiel and Golden eagles. Attached is a bird list o birds that have been seen . Went Birding with an Excellent Birder from the US. We had a Great day, started early morning in Zvia Wadi up the Gilboa Mt. Followed by birding in Beit Shean fields and fishing ponds. We finish our day at Mt . Carmel - had a look at some Griffon vultures near a feeding station. Attached is a bird list of the birds we have seen in our day.
Went to see the Local birds along the Carmel coast with a couple of American birders (thank you for your company....). Didnt see something special, though we did see some nice water birds throughout the day and at the end of the day we saw some beautifull Eurasian Bee Eaters nesting, and Lesser kestrels. Went with an avid birder from the Netherlands to see some of the summer birds in Beit shean & Jezreal valley'es. It was hot, though we managed to see some of the specific birds we wanted to see such as: Long billed pipits, Namaqua dove, marbeled Duck, eagle owl etc. We finished the day near the Hai Bar at Mt. Carmel were a rare Lapet faced vulture was seen a few days before but with no success by us. What a great day. Good birds and great company. I want to Thank Erwin to allow me using his pictures in my website. Attached a birding list (written by Erwin) of the birds we have seen during the tour.
Went on birding with a couple of birders from the uk to a morning at Judean desert. We have seen mostly the local desert birds such as: Little green bee eater, sand partrige, fan tailed raven, blackstart etc. In addition there were some nice migrating raptors- mostly buzzards, though some others such as Bonelli's Eagle were seen. To sum things- a nice morning at Judean desert with some local and migrating birds. Went to do some birding with an enthusiastic birder from the US. Eilat and the Arava valley are great spots on those dates as spring migration is at its peak. We did see a lot of birds, though regertfully we didnt see any rare birds. Still we enjoyed much a couple of days birding around. Attached below is a bird list of what we have seen during our tour.
Found my self again guiding another tour along the Carmel coast. This time went with a nice Family from the states. We had a good time wondering along the fishing ponds and the coast. Had some nice views at waders and sea birds and finished the day at a roosting site for Great Cormorants. We was just leaving as they started to appear as we arrived a bit early and lost our patience and in additon- the Mosquitoes just arrived. So, we decided to leave, though we did manage to see the begining of the arrival of the Great Cormorants. All in all, it was an excellent day. Went again on March 14tn to Beit shean valley. Guided an Excellent Birder from the states and had a realy good time (thanks, Matt). We didnt see something out of the ordinary, though many bird species Have been seen by us and exploring the Valley was a great experience. What a great time the spring is... Attached below is a birding list for birds we have seen during our tour, that was submitted by Matt to ebird. Enjoy.
